Picnic circuit

This summer the following bands are playing or have played the area.

Toto
Rick Springfield
Cheap Trick
John Waite
Colin Hay from Men at Work
Styx Featuring a fake Dennis DeYoung
Journey Featuring a fake Steve Perry

And many others.

They are all playing picnics and festivals put on by various municipalities. It's weird when artists of your youth turn into the oldies picnic circuit. The idea of these 'rockers' playing family picnics is odd as well.

I wonder if some of the same stage banter applies? 'Man we played a picnic down in Houston last night and they said ya'll didn't know how to rock up here, do you know how to rock? I can't hear you!

'Hey how are those corny dogs? This next one's called Rosanna'

'don't eat the brown cotton candy'

They used to get groupies back stage, now they get their choice of balloon animal, and a turkey leg.

But the ultimate question is will the guys get shirts?

I might have forsaw that Styx and Journey were headed towards the municipal festival circuit long ago. The reason being that both were a complete power down for me when they played two seperate Texxas Jams during my hard rockin' youth. I thought both bands made housewife music even back then.

In a way, I wish Styx and Journey the best on the festival circuit. Hopefully they'll price themselves out of that market, requiring municipalities to dig deeper into my musical past to find talent.Might we see the Circle Jerks play Euless' Arbor Days? Minor Threat at Taste of Addison?
